The main directions for research in the Center for Drug Chemistry:
The Center for Drug Chemistry has the following main directions for
scientific activity:
-
Rational design of new drugs; studies on the mechanism of drug action;
studies on pharmacokinetics, metabolism and safety of drugs; studies on
the role of endogenous compounds in biochemical processes which determine
certain types of biological activity; modification of molecules of well-known
medicines and endogenous compounds with the purpose to increase their selectivity
of action and bio-availability; determination of the correlation between
structural factors, physical and chemical properties and biological activity
of compounds, studies of mechanism of action of drugs; development of methods
of synthesis of drugs, including creation of forms of medicinal preparations.
The aim of Institute is to create and adopt into medical practice
various original synthetic medicinal preparations, including:
-
Drugs for prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases (selective
class III antiarrhythmics, b-blockers with new
structures and biological action);
-
Drugs for prevention and treatment of nervous and mental diseases;
-
Antibacterial drugs, including antituberculosis preparations;
-
Drugs for the prevention and treatment of viral infections, having
-
immunomodulatory properties;
-
Antihypoxants and antioxidants for treatment and prevention of brain and
heart ischemia, as well as the drugs for ophthalmologic practice;
-
Antifungus drugs.
-
Development of new, not yet patented methods of synthesis of the most effective
drugs, widely used in world medical practice.
-
Creation of new combined medicines having higher efficiency, than components,
included in their composition.
