There have been many successes in the search for new drugs and in the development of new synthesic approaches based on the broad range of fundamental studies carried out in the Institute. They included studies:

• structure, electronic and tautomeric properties of biologically active compounds;
• developments of original schemes of synthesis of biologically active compounds;
• studies of pharmacokinetics and metabolism of drugs and their analogs;
• studies of the correlation between chemical structure and biological activity;
• studies of mechanism of drug action on both biological and molecular level.
