During the years of the Institute activity many prominent scientists worked in its research divisions. Among them are Orechov, A.P. and Menshikov, G.P. - experts in the field of chemistry of alkaloids, Magidson, I.Yu., Rubtzov, M.T., Tchukina, M.N., Utkin, L.M., Sergievskaya, S.I., Berlin, A.Ya., Kraft, M.Ya., Suvorov, N.N. Yachontov, L.N., Grinev, A.N., Grigorovsky, A.I., Golovchinskaya, E.S., Michalev, V.A., Zasosov, V.A., Feldman, V.I., Maksimov, V.I. - scientists in the field of medicinal chemistry; Bundel, A.A. and Sheinker, Yu.N., who have made substantial contribution to the physical chemistry and structural studies of biologically active compounds, including medicinal preparations; Pershin, G.N., Vermel, E.V., Sanotzky, V.A., Lebedeva, M.N., Chernov, V.A., Fadeeva, N.I., Pynes, A.I. - researchers in area of chemotherapy of infectious diseases and malignant tumors; Skvortzov, V.I., Sargin, K.D., Holle, Ya, H. - in the field of pharmacology etc. The large contribution to the creation of the original medicinal preparations have been made by the present and former employees of the Institute -  professors Safonova, T.S., Padeiskaya, E.N., Kaminka, M.E., Schwartz, G.Ya, Elina, A.S. and others.

Several outstanding scientists who work in the Institute now are: the prominent Russian pharmacologist, Hero of Socialist Labor, academician of Russian Academy of Medicinal Sciences (RAMS), Mashkovsky, M.D., well-known specialists in the field of medicinal toxicology,  the corresponding member of RAMS, Guskova, T.A. and professor Liberman, S.S., scientists in the field of medicinal chemistry - academician of Rassian Academy of Medical Sciences, professor Glushkov, R.G., academician of Russian Academy of Natural Sciences Kochergin, P.M. and professor Velezheva, V.S., experts in pharmacology, doctors of medical sciences Yuzhakov, S.D. and Andreeva, N.I., specialist in the chemistry of steroids Grinenko, G.S. and others.

The modern level of research is ensured by high-level qualifications of the personnel working at the Institute - chemists - specialists in organic synthesis, biologists, technologists, analysts, specialists in structural studies, experts in the development of forms of medicinal preparations etc.

268 employees work now in the Institute. This includes 3 academicians (2- from RAMS and 1 from RANS), 1 - corresponding member of RAMS, 8 Doctors of Sciences (D.Sc.), 53 candidates of sciences (Ph.D.) and 133 employees have high education level.

The Institute has facilities for post-graduate courses and two specialized scientific councils for scientific degrees in organic chemistry and pharmacology.
